So, my wonderful friend, Tammy, has a blog in which she is answering a set of 50 (yoi!) questions about herself. I kind of liked the idea…especially since I am so often stuck on what to blog about. Not that anyone would be interested in learning more about me, but I just feel like doing it. So, here’s the list:
Day 1: Introduce yourself
Day 2: A bulleted list of everything that happened in your day
I can pretty much guarantee that Day 2 is going to be boring, especially since I’m not working right now. But, oh well! Here goes:
I’m Laurin. (Okay, boring start…) A lot of my family members call me Laurie, but they’re pretty much the only ones. I’m a bit embarrassed to note that I was called Bubbles in high school (especially since my “friend,” John, has repeatedly pointed out that it was also Michael Jackson’s chimp’s name!)
I have been truly blessed by God to have some of the most amazing family and friends in all of creation. One of my closest friends is my mom (my Marmie!) who has always been a great supporter of me – no matter what I seem to get myself into. My besties include the amazingly talented Sherry, the beautifully endearing Allison, the most lovingest Sally, the fabulously intelligent Trisha, the wonderfully crazy Violet, and the sweet, but stressed Juana. My girls, Sherry, Sally, Allison, and Trisha, helped lead me to give my life to God when I was 18 and I’m so thankful for them never giving up on me! Through the years, I have been blessed with so many other friends that there is not enough room to name them all.
School has been too large a part of my life for way too long. After what seemed an interminable time in high school, I did go on to college, got my Associate’s Degree, then continued working towards my Bachelor’s. I had to drop out for a few years, due to lack of funds, and finally got back to it to finish up with my Secondary Education (English emphasis) in 2004. I taught 7th grade for 6-1/2 years before realizing that God wants me somewhere besides a public middle school classroom. I’m pretty durned grateful that He helped me realize that, since I don’t think I’d be able to handle what’s going on there now!!
Other than that, unfortunately there’s not much to me! I love God, reading, photography, writing, and serving in my tiny little church (Colona Community Church – boasting a membership of about 35!). I’ve been messing around with the idea of homeschool tutoring, but am much more interested in traveling and taking pictures right now!
That’s pretty much all there is. No love of my life…yet (I’m seriously stressing the “yet” – I know it will happen). I am trusting that God will bring him to me (or me to him) when He has finished preparing us both. A rather auspicious start, but what else can I say?
