Arms of Love by Kelly Long

In 1777, America is in the midst of the Revolutionary War, and the peaceful Pennsylvania Amish communities are stuck in the middle, being forced to decide to remain neutral and appear to support the English cause or to deny their faith by supporting and even fighting for the Colonists. It is in this turmoil that we find the characters of Kelly Long’s Arms of Love, Adam Wyse and his beautiful neighbor, Lena Yoder. Their love for each other is deep, but can it survive family and community pressures? The only thing they can do is to lay their love for each other in the Arms of Love and follow where those Arms lead.
I have to admit – I’ve never read an “Amish novel” before. I really chose this novel because it was set during the Revolution, which, as a former Social Studies teacher, has always been interesting to me. But I must say that Arms of Love by Kelly Long was a fabulous introduction to the genre. Filled with historical detail, gripping tension, tender emotion, and God’s grace, Arms of Love hits the bulls-eye for a wonderful read.
I received a free copy of this book from the BookSneeze Blogger Review program. I was not required to give a positive review. All opinions are absolutely my own!
