I’m so excited to be part of the blog tour for Lee James’ novel: Azriel! This is the first book in the Watchmen Saga, and I am dying to share it with you. And isn’t the cover absolutely stunning?!? 🙂 Here we go…
About the book:
Bree Faro learns early in life that she can only depend on herself. Due to her feisty nature and unusual ability with a sword, she is educated in every fighting style imaginable and excels at them all. When she’s sent to infiltrate the city of Azriel, Bree does not expect to find her place among the Watchmen of the Keep, but they welcome her as one of their own.
Little does Bree know that her new companions are in danger.
An immortal creature lies in wait for any Keeper of the Flame, the city’s water source has dried up, and they are under constant attack from the Yirtzi—former Watchmen reduced to vengeful spirits, who sold their souls for power only to realize the enemy of Yahweh does not translate to the friend of mankind. Not only that, but the Watchmen are fraying.
Hostilities come to a head when a Watchman is murdered.
Only a Watchman can kill another Watchman, and all eyes shift to Bree.
Bree finds herself faced with a choice. Does she engineer the betrayal of the powerful city, or does she embrace her destiny as a true Watchman of Yahweh and find the killer before it’s too late?
Sounds amazing, right? Here’s what I thought…
This book, you guys, is awesome! Seriously. There is so much to love about Azriel: heart-pounding adventure; fantastical creatures; good vs. evil; finding purpose, redemption, and hope; and even more.
Azriel is one of those beautiful books that I was pulled into straight away, completely wrapped up in while I read, and woebegone when I got to the end and had to leave the world of the Five Cities. Bree is a fabulous heroine: she can both inspire readers to stand up for truth and right, and also make you want to give her a hug and tell her she’s more amazing than she ever gives herself credit for. And I have a bit of a book crush on Rafe for his strength and determination…and his heart.
And the story is so beautifully written, with poignant moments and thought-provoking words sprinkled liberally throughout. One of my favorite quotes is:
So inspiring! No matter what (or who) you face, if your faith is in Yahweh’s power working through you, you are already one giant step ahead in any battle. Love, love, love this! ❤
I can’t recommend this book highly enough, and I kind of wish I could give it more than five stars. 🙂 Azriel officially hits the shelves tomorrow, so grab your copy. I definitely want to read it again and cannot wait to find out what happens in the next installment of the Watchmen Saga.
Many, many thanks to L2L2 Publishing for the digital copy of this novel for review purposes (and for being a fabulous publisher of stellar books)! I was not required to give a positive review. I had no choice — it was such a great book! All opinions are my very own. 🙂
